Brave Kids is dedicated to children of different backgrounds who use art as a tool for positive change in their lives. Through participation in three-week workshops during which they work together children have a chance to teach each other and learn from each other. KIDS TEACH KIDS. Our goal is to put children in the centre of the learning process – so they are both teachers and students; professional pedagogs only coach the process.
By participation in the project we aim to strengthen the groups of young artists from regions of the world affected by various tragedies - natural disasters, political conflicts, homelessness and poverty and show that art gives a chance to overcome traumatic experiences and break free of destructive limitations. For all kids, including those coming from the wealthy world, we offer a chance to build confidence in their own competence and appreciate the value of their own artistic expression. We also try making a counterweight to conformist, mass-distributed pop culture. We believe this to be an important step towards shaping the future of the participants of the project and their communities.
BRAVE KIDS IS:
- A voice for brave kids. We let them speak and - thanks to this - we restore their dignity. Our aspiration to help them preserve their beliefs gives them strength to deal with everyday life.
- Art that enables dialogue. Children from distant corners of the world can learn and understand the most universal of languages – the language of art.
- Sharing culture instead of cultural divisions. Children will work on their joint performance, contributing a small piece of themselves and their culture. Those things that make them different will be a driving force to find common ground. The young creators will play a dual role – they will be both teachers and learners.
